Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental or biological systems engineering or other relevant subjects.
  • Minimum of 1+ year experience with strong engineering knowledge in Drainage Systems, Water Quality Devices, Detention Ponds, Hydraulic Analysis, FDM Design Standards, WisDOT PS&E Processes.
  • Active & current PE license through any state, preferred PE license to be in good standing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite, AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Mircostation, SLAMM/Recarga, HydroCAD, Bentley StormCAD, Inroads, or other hydrologic modeling software, HEC-RAS, HSPF, or other hydraulic modeling software, and other software as it becomes available or necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Managing each project, delegating work to Project Engineers or Interns as appropriate, and ensuring all deliverables are checked for quality and approved by the Principal before leaving the office.
  • Assisting with the development of project proposals as requested by the Principal.
  • Identifying project tasks and estimating the hours needed to complete these tasks for proposal writing.
  • Writing a detailed project scope for inclusion in the proposal.
  • Managing the tasks of the project, the people of the project, and the overall communication between employees, clients, and the Principal Engineer.
  • Obtaining familiarity with each project’s background, location, existing issues, and existing politics.
  • Identifying the right staff for each part of the project and assigning tasks.
  • Managing people while they perform the assigned tasks.
  • Setting milestone dates for project tasks that meet the deadline provided for in the scope.
  • Providing the role of “Checker” as part of the Quality Control Program.
  • Providing project updates both internal and external.
  • Updating the project budget for monthly invoicing.
  • Evaluating the status of each project vs. the work completed.
  • Bringing to the attention of the Project Manager any evidence of budget slips, scope creep, or scheduling issues.
  • Maintaining project change and issue logs.
