About The Position

MWH is seeking a qualified Project Engineer to support the construction of a Water Treatment Plant in Gresham, Oregon. This project is the first of its kind, supplying 135 million gallons of water daily to the Portland community. This role offers the opportunity to be involved in a historic infrastructure and filtration project throughout its entire delivery life cycle, from groundbreaking to closeout. The Project Engineer will support all aspects of delivery for filtration project work, including shop drawing and RFI management, As Built maintenance, contract management, change management, quality management, and issues management. The role requires ensuring work is performed in accordance with contract documents and engineering standards.

Requirements

  • BS degree in engineering required
  • 2+ years of experience in project engineering or field engineering
  • Prior pipeline project experience
  • Familiarity with reading contract drawings and specifications
  • Familiarity with basic construction principles and practices

  • Previous experience in the water/wastewater industry, or similar industries

Responsibilities

  • Review requests for information (RFIs) from subcontractors for clarity and confirm information not discernible from contract documents.
  • Manage the RFI process through the Engineer of Record and post RFIs to As Built contract documents.
  • Analyze subcontractor and manufacturer submittals against contract documents, determining if substitutions are comparable for approval.
  • Manage the submittal process, reviewing and approving shop drawings for compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Conduct technical reviews of submittals, identifying deviations and coordinating issue resolution.
  • Provide support to Trade Package Project Managers and Site Superintendents.
  • Review shop drawings for general compliance with contract documents and coordination with relevant equipment.
  • Manage the change order process, analyzing proposed changes against contract documents and assessing cost estimate validity.
  • Assist in managing Time and Materials tickets for executed change orders and force account work.
  • Link shop drawings to construction schedule activities to ensure timely completion.
  • Support PMs in weekly progress updates with trade contractors and the program schedule team regarding submittal status.
  • Attend meetings and track critical issues requiring resolution to maintain construction progress.
  • Drive issues to conclusion through active communication with responsible parties.
  • Understand quality requirements for assigned trade packages and coordinate with trade contractors and the Program Quality team.
  • Ensure quality activities are planned, executed, and documented according to contract requirements.
  • Ensure the safe conduct of MWH personnel to achieve a zero-accident project.
  • Verify all site personnel meet minimum safety requirements (e.g., training, orientations, tools, and equipment).
  • Work in a manner that ensures personal safety and the safety of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all RFIs, submittals, and related correspondence.
