About The Position

Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to join their growing team. This is a full-time, exempt position based out of Marietta, GA, with local travel to project sites as needed. This role reports directly to the Project Manager and is ideal for an entry-level to early-career candidate looking to build a long-term career in construction project management and grow with the company. The Project Engineer supports the technical and administrative aspects of multiple construction projects during the construction process. This role works closely with the Project Manager, field personnel, office staff, customers, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements. The position is primarily office-based with periodic jobsite visits to support understanding of field operations and project conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Entry-level to early-career candidates encouraged to apply; internship, co-op, or early professional experience in construction is acceptable.
  • Prior exposure to the construction industry preferred, including project management internships, field engineering roles, or construction-related employment.
  • Strong interest in pursuing a long-term career in construction project management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Word.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions when learning new concepts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with people from all backgrounds and adapt to new or unfamiliar situations professionally.
  • Willingness to work variable hours and participate in hands-on training.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Submit and track required documentation to customers to facilitate timely project start-up.
  • Track pay quantities and assist in preparing accurate applications for payment.
  • Coordinate project rollouts with management, field, and office personnel.
  • Communicate key project details including schedules, work plans, subcontractor and vendor information, utility contacts, milestone dates, and special provisions.
  • Visit project sites as needed to observe and document progress through photographs, videos, and reports.
  • Communicate regularly with the Project Manager and field personnel to ensure project issues and concerns are addressed.
  • Identify potential changes in project scope and assist with the change order process.
  • Assist with reviewing and correcting field logs to accurately track costs and quantities.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly project reports.
  • Provide technical and administrative support to foremen and superintendents.
