About The Position

The Project Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of compressed natural gas (CNG) and renewable natural gas (RNG) fueling station systems. This role supports the full project lifecycle from concept and detailed engineering through installation, commissioning, and ongoing technical support. The position requires strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, industry code compliance, and hands‑on collaboration with cross‑functional teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
  • 3–7 years of mechanical engineering experience in fueling systems, energy, oil & gas, or industrial equipment.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools and engineering documentation.
  • Ability to interpret codes, standards, and customer specifications.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and engineering change processes.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound engineering judgment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and adhere to CMD’s confidentiality agreement(s).

Nice To Haves

  • PE license or Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) preferred.
  • Experience with CNG and/or RNG systems strongly preferred.
  • Modular or platform-based system design preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical systems for CNG and RNG fueling stations, including compression, storage, dispensing, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Develop and review P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and mechanical layouts.
  • Perform equipment sizing, pressure drop calculations, and material selection.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 52, ASME, API, ULs, CSA, local AHJ requirements).
  • Collaborate with electrical, controls, manufacturing, and installation teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Support hazard analyses, design reviews, and functional safety evaluations.
  • Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, startup, and commissioning.
  • Interface with suppliers and customers to clarify technical requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and efficiency.
