About The Position

As a Project Engineer, you will provide hands-on engineering support to enhance operational efficiency, troubleshoot plant issues, and contribute to capital project design. Using strong engineering principles and living the Bunge Core Values, you’ll ensure the facility remains safe, competitive, and continuously improving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Agricultural, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering—or equivalent experience.
  • 1–2 years of experience in plant operations, maintenance, and safety.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective organization and planning abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative team mindset.
  • Experience managing projects under $1M, with successful on-time, on-budget, and safety-compliant outcomes.
  • Able to work with direction and oversight while demonstrating initiative.
  • Ability to evaluate operational gaps and recommend solutions with support from cross-functional partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of industry design codes and regulations, including NFPA 36, NFPA 61, OSHA, and EPA requirements (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Champion a strong safety culture by modeling safe work habits and ensuring employees and contractors follow safety standards.
  • Lead and manage the facility’s Process Safety Management (PSM) program, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal Bunge requirements.
  • Drive efficiency initiatives with a strong focus on reducing costs without sacrificing safety.
  • Partner with facility teams to plan and implement projects aimed at improving Productivity, Quality, Safety, and Environment (PQSE) performance.
  • Support the prioritization and optimization of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify Lean Sigma opportunities and assist with implementation efforts.
  • Implement and oversee process optimization activities.
  • Provide technical support on topics such as dry material handling, air flow, heat exchange, power systems, PLCs, steam systems, and liquid handling/storage.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership to define technical needs, develop CapEx requirements, evaluate project proposals, and support CapEx presentations.
  • Assist with engineering tasks including drawing reviews, equipment specifications, operational narratives, training, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Identify, promote, and help implement best practices across operations; support troubleshooting of operational challenges.
  • Support vendor assessments, OEM equipment evaluations, and contractor/engineering firm reviews.
  • Ensure facility projects align with all Federal and State environmental regulations.
  • Make decisions with strong cost and quality considerations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with safety, engineering, environmental, commercial, accounting, legal, QA/QC, procurement, and other teams.
  • Regularly review production data to ensure accuracy and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Support Regional Continuous Improvement initiatives.
