About The Position

The Project Engineer position provides administrative and tactical support to experienced Project Managers and Estimator. This position assists in preparing accurate and detailed project estimates, supporting complex projects, providing information to assist with the supervision of construction projects from beginning to end, ensuring they are completed within time and budgetary constraints, and are in compliance with job specifications and safety regulations. This position also benefits from the mentorship of the company's experienced Project Managers, receiving guidance, support, and career development. The Project Engineer also directs their own assigned projects, including oversees all phases of a construction project from initial estimating, planning, and to completion. Supervises the field construction of a project to complete the work on schedule, within budget, and to the quality of workmanship specified. Protects and promotes the company's interests in all matters and does whatever is reasonably necessary to discharge duties and responsibilities, which include but are not limited to the functions identified below.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and four (4) years of relevant experience in construction field operations and/or estimating; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have excellent computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word and
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have or be able to obtain OSHA 10 certification (OSHA 30 is preferred).
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction of highways and roads, site work or other related fields. Understanding of estimating functions.
  • Knowledge of civil engineering infrastructure projects, including paving, concrete, water, sewer, grading, drainage and other utilities. Ability to read and understand consultant drawings, blueprints, models, contracts, and reports.
  • Excellent computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word, and estimating software.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and writing skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with attention-to-detail. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to promote a culture of teamwork, collaboration and efficient resource utilization throughout our company.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with estimating software such as Bid2Win, Agtek Earthworks, and AutoCAD isa plus.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is preferred.
  • Competent Person, Excavation, Trenching and Fall Protection Certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists Project Managers & Estimators with analysis of proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of Calculates complete takeoffs of scope of work.

  • Initiates, prepares, reviews, tracks and distributes
  • Assists in project buy out - generates Requests for Quotes RFQs.
  • Assists in preparation of monthly owner project status
  • Manage purchase orders, subcontracts and submittal process to procure goods and services at competitive prices and in a timely manner. May manage coordination with vendors and subcontractors according to the project specific purchase orders and subcontracts.
  • Builds and maintains project schedules that provide clear direction for project team.
  • Manages day to day operational aspects of assigned projects:
  • Effective execution of the work plan according to Lawrence-Lynch's methodology.
  • Enforces project standards.
  • Identifies resources needed, procures project supplies & materials, and assigns individual responsibilities. Tracks subcontractor & supplier participation on projects, documents truck times.
  • Coordinates scheduling with main office/dispatch.
  • Mitigates risk exposure and promotes environmental health and safety.
  • May support the GPS/Engineering Division by building AutoCAD' models' of project and assisting in GPS and 'intelligent' machine control
  • Ensures project documents are completed in a timely manner and submitted for processing; Assists in monthly estimate preparation. Documents all contract influenced information (i.e. change order management), tracking of measurement and payment items including quantities, LLC payroll, and change orders.
  • Assists others to ensure project documents are completed, current and stored
  • Assist with maintaining submittal management database(s). Assist with daily reports, JHA's, other required reporting.
  • Assists in invoice approvals/quantity reconciliations; provides monthly estimate preparation, cost and schedule reporting; communicates with accounting to facilitate monthly job cost
