About The Position

The Project Engineer will independently identify and perform required tasks without needing direction on specific items. This role involves studying and understanding project drawings, specifications, subcontractor agreements, and purchase orders. The Project Engineer will manage procurement, review and submit RFIs and Submittals, and ensure compliance with project documents. They will also be responsible for material procurement, obtaining necessary permits, coordinating testing and inspections, and managing the punch list and closeout process. This role acts as the information hub for the project, assisting the Superintendent and/or Project Manager with scheduling, change orders, and various other project management tasks.

Requirements

  • Ability to study and understand project drawings, specifications, subcontractor agreements and purchase orders.
  • Proficiency in reviewing and submitting project RFIs and Submittals.
  • Skill in managing material procurement to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Knowledge of obtaining and complying with building, storm water, and other permits.
  • Ability to coordinate and track contractually required testing and inspection.
  • Experience in generating pre-punch list items and managing the punch list and closeout process.
  • Strong communication skills to act as an information hub for project stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with CPM schedule updates and short-term scheduling.
  • Ability to identify and price Owner and subcontract change orders.
  • Experience assisting with job setup, project meetings, safety, record-keeping, and quality control.

Responsibilities

  • Independently identifies and performs required tasks without needing direction on specific items.
  • Studies and understands project drawings, specifications, subcontractor agreements and purchase orders.
  • Reviews and submits project RFI’s to manage procurement to meet project schedule.
  • Reviews and submits project Submittals to ensure proper compliance with project documents.
  • Proactively manages material procurement to ensure on time arrival of project specified materials.
  • Identifies, applies for, gets, and complies with building, storm water and other permits.
  • Identifies, coordinates, and tracks contractually required testing and inspection.
  • Generates pre-punch list items and works with Owner/Architect to generate punch list items.
  • Manages punch list and closeout process.
  • Acts as the “information hub” for project to office, field personnel and design team members to ensure continuity of work.
  • Assists the Superintendent and/or Project Manager in generating the CPM schedule updates using Haselden’s standard scheduling software.
  • Participates in generating short term schedules.
  • Identifies and prices Owner and subcontract change orders including evaluation of scopes and pricing.
  • Assists with job setup, project meetings, safety, record-keeping, and quality control.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
