The Project Engineer transitions from executing to owning project information, controls, and performance. Responsibilities grow to include technical, contractual, scheduling, and financial support, ensuring field operations and project management stay aligned. The Project Engineer acts quickly and accurately, flags risks affecting cost, schedule, or outcomes, and manages daily project details to keep execution and requirements on track. Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as a PE supporting a General Contractor or a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Architecture
  • Excellent computer skills in MS Office
  • Excel proficient
  • Exceptional organization, analytical, and communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to balance & support multiple projects
  • Collaborative and committed to ensuring quality production

Responsibilities

  • Own the flow, accuracy, and timeliness of all project information
  • Maintain control and accuracy of all project documentation including RFIs, submittals, drawings, and logs
  • Ensure all project information is properly distributed, tracked, and current at all times
  • Identify and resolve gaps in documentation before they impact execution
  • Ensure timely and accurate flow of project information across all stakeholders
  • Attend site meetings and ensure clear documentation and follow-up of action items
  • Coordinate project closeout documentation including warranties, manuals, and deficiencies
  • Coordinate and support Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings
  • Prepare and distribute meeting agendas and minutes in a timely and accurate manner
  • Track all open items, decisions, and action items from OAC meetings
  • Ensure follow-up and closure of action items across all stakeholders
  • Maintain an up-to-date log of outstanding items and drive accountability for resolution
  • Escalate unresolved or delayed items that may impact schedule, cost, or project execution
  • Process subcontracts and purchase orders with a clear understanding of scope, risk, and contractual alignment
  • Support evaluation of change events including cost impact, schedule impact, and contractual considerations
  • Coordinate with accounting and finance teams to ensure accurate and timely project financial records
  • Assist in identifying cost exposures and tracking change events
  • Drive RFIs and submittals from initiation through final resolution
  • Ensure all items are complete, technically accurate, and processed with urgency
  • Track and enforce turnaround times to prevent schedule impact
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and consultants to maintain timely responses
  • Analyze change requests for cost, schedule, and contractual impact
  • Identify scope gaps and conflicts early and escalate appropriately
  • Support Project Management with change order strategy and execution
  • Work with Superintendents to develop and understand project schedules
  • Monitor progress against schedule and identify deviations early
  • Identify risks to schedule proactively and escalate before impacting milestones
  • Support development of recovery strategies when schedule performance is at risk
  • Ensure coordination activities align with schedule requirements
  • Continuously evaluate project conditions for potential schedule impact
  • Develop working knowledge of prime contracts and subcontracts
  • Identify scope gaps, overlaps, and potential risk exposure
  • Communicate contractual obligations and expectations to the project team
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders
  • Provide insights to the management that impact profitability, schedule performance, and customer expectations
  • Communicate risks early and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Maintain field presence to understand project conditions, sequencing, and constraints when/if directed by the PM or in their absence
  • Support the Superintendent with coordination, issue tracking, and material planning
  • Observe field progress and identify misalignments with drawings, specifications, and project intent
  • Communicate potential issues early to support resolution before impacting schedule or cost
  • Mentor and support Project Administrative Coordinators
  • Maintain accountability for accuracy, responsiveness, and follow-through
