About The Position

As a Project Engineer at Z Modular, a division of Zekelman Industries, you will play a key role in supporting modular construction projects through effective coordination, documentation management, and technical oversight. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset to ensure seamless execution of project tasks. You will contribute directly to project success by managing submittments, RFIs, scheduling support, and compliance processes, helping drive efficiency and quality in modular construction. You will collaborate closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure accurate documentation, timely progress reporting, and adherence to safety and compliance standards. This is a full-time, on-site role located in San Tan Valley / Chandler AZ area. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and excels at balancing technical details with cross-functional communication.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience in construction, preferably modular construction or prefabrication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Bluebeam).
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, blueprint interpretation, and modular processes.
  • Skilled in budgeting, scheduling, cost control, and compliance support.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in building science, construction management, civil engineering, or a related field (preferred).
  • Familiarity with modular construction regulatory requirements and standards (preferred).
  • Relevant certifications such as Procore Certification, CAPM, or OSHA 10-Hour Construction Certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Manages project submittals, RFIs, correspondence, and reporting to support daily project operations.
  • Supports project scheduling, budgeting, and implementation by collaborating with project teams and the Scheduling Department.
  • Assists in developing project schedules, preparing schedule of values, and managing change orders.
  • Coordinates material procurement, inventory management, and confirmation of approved materials before production.
  • Prepares subcontracts, purchase orders, requisitions, and proposals.
  • Attends weekly OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) meetings and provides documentation support.
  • Guides Project Coordinators on documentation standards, RFIs, and submittal processes.
  • Ensures compliance with company safety standards and government regulations on-site.
  • Supports quality control efforts and coordinates close-out documentation, warranties, and manuals.
  • Assembles final close-out packages in collaboration with the Project Manager – Transitions.
