About The Position

Ames Construction is seeking a motivated Engineer to join its heavy civil construction team. The role supports the management and delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects, including highways, bridges, utilities, and site development. The Project Engineer works with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to support daily operations, project documentation, quality, safety, cost tracking, budgeting, and scheduling.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of construction principles and project management fundamentals.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Nice To Haves

• Internship or co-op experience in construction.
• Familiarity with scheduling software such as Primavera P6.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with daily project operations.
• Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Track project progress, prepare reports, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
• Support quality control and safety compliance on job sites.
• Assist with cost tracking, budgeting, and schedule updates.
• Participate in problem-solving and provide technical support during construction activities.
