About The Position

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing RFIs and submittals, reviewing shop drawings and technical documents for compliance with contract requirements, and supporting Project Managers and Superintendents with change management, scheduling coordination, and issue resolution. You will use engineering judgment to ensure quality, maintain accurate project documentation, and support safe and efficient project execution.

Requirements

  • BS degree in engineering required
  • 2+ years of experience in project engineering or field engineering.
  • Prior pipeline project experience.
  • Familiarity with reading contract drawings and specifications, and basic construction principles and practices.

  • Previous internship, co-op, or employment experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage RFIs and submittals, including reviewing requests for information from subcontractors for clarity and confirming information that cannot be discerned from the contract documents. Shepherd through the Engineer of Record response process and post RFI’s to the As Built contract documents.
  • Analyze subcontractor and manufacturer’s submittals against contract documents, including exercising discretion to determine if a proffered substitution is sufficiently comparable to recommend for approval.
  • Manage the submittal process, including reviewing and approving shop drawings, using engineering judgment to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Conduct thorough technical reviews of submittals, identifying deviations from project requirements and coordinating with relevant parties to address and resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of all RFIs, submittals, and related correspondence.
  • Provide support to the Trade Package Project Managers and Site Superintendents.
  • Review shop drawings for general compliance with contract documents and coordination with relevant equipment. Shepherd through the Engineer of Record review and approval process.
  • Analyze proposed change orders against the contract documents, and use engineering judgment to assess the validity of the proposed cost estimates for the work. Assist in the management of Time and Materials tickets where required on executed change orders and force account work.
  • Link shop drawings to construction schedule activities to ensure timely completion and support PMs in weekly progress updates with the trade contractors and program schedule team in submittal status.
  • Attend routine meetings and track critical issues requiring resolution to maintain construction progress. Drive issues to conclusion through active communications with responsible parties.
  • Understand quality requirements of assigned trade packages and coordinate with trade contractors and Program Quality team to ensure that quality activities are planned, executed, and documented according to contract requirements.
  • Ensure the safe conduct of MWH personnel to ensure a zero-accident project. Ensure all site personnel meet minimum safety requirements (e.g. training, orientations, tools and equipment).
  • Work in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
