About The Position

The Christman Company is seeking a Project Engineer to join their team. This role is responsible for producing and organizing project documents, managing close-out processes, assisting with project meetings, and ensuring compliance with Christman standards and risk management. The Project Engineer will utilize technology to expedite processes, manage RFIs and submittals, and support the Project Superintendent in monitoring quality and safety. This is a full-time position that requires a commitment to safety and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related job field.
  • Minimum one (1) year of construction industry experience. Previous internship(s) in construction management or related field will apply.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to interact with and develop effective working relationships with a wide range of people, including internal and external customers, in different situations.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Able to plan, schedule, and organize tasks while completing work within established deadlines.
  • Ability to follow instructions, respond to management direction, take responsibility for own actions, and keep commitments.
  • Excellent written and oral skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Passion for team-based planning and problem-solving.
  • Wholehearted commitment to building strong partnerships to support project goals.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screening, including drug and background screening.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and organize project and professional documents consistent with Christman standards and risk management standards for the document type.
  • Proactively prepare project documents for close-out, turnover, and archiving, including safety programs, MSDS documents, and quality control plans.
  • Plan, communicate, and process close-out documents of all subcontracts as work concludes.
  • Accurately summarize important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.
  • Partner with client and architect to establish punch-list contents and utilize current technology to expedite the punch list process.
  • Assist the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections and create project-specific inspection logs.
  • Provide information on all procurement, material tracking, and inspections to the Project Superintendent.
  • Manage the RFI process and ensure that information is flowing timely to all parties.
  • Update contract drawings to reflect all approved changes and ensure trade contractor documents update.
  • Organize and prioritize submittal requirements, review for completeness, create a submittal log, review shop drawings, sample for compliance, and manage architect submittal review process.
  • Support Project Superintendent by monitoring quality of work and compliance with construction documents.
  • Assist the Project Superintendent with daily reports and the management of all progress and quality photos.
  • Post all required safety information and signage to inform all workers and site visitors about site hazards and confirm appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all times.
  • Model safety awareness and planning at all times while observing safety practices and report any concerns to the Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
  • Support the logistics process for all safety initiatives listed in the site specific safety plan.
  • Serve as a peer coach as required.
  • Complete assigned and required training for this role.
