About The Position

Hoffman Construction is seeking a Project Engineer for our Water Reclamation Facility Project. This individual will be an integral member of the on-site Engineering Department, providing essential technical and administrative support throughout the lifecycle of the construction project. Reporting to the Program Engineer, this individual will support coordination among project team members, design professionals, subcontractors, and client stakeholders to resolve complex field coordination issues and maintain alignment across all disciplines. The Project Engineer is on the front line and plays a key role in driving project milestones while ensuring safety, quality, and constructability standards are upheld. This position will be fully at the project site in Boise, Idaho.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of Project Engineering experience in commercial building construction required, water treatment facility project experience highly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of construction means and methods, trade sequencing, and commissioning workflows.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor of science in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, structural engineering, construction management or equivalent degree and/or equivalent craft level work experience.
  • Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams), and have a strong understanding of working within a computer network.
  • Experience with project management software such as Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Primavera Project Planner (P6).
  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks.
  • Training in design and construction document reading, design specifications, survey theory, and techniques.
  • Experience in organizing technical data in a neat and accurate method.
  • Familiar with Construction Specifications Institutes (CSI) MasterFormat.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, sequencing, and field practices.
  • Capable of organizing and analyzing technical data effectively and accurately.
  • Ability to work well and maintain a cooperative attitude in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work while frequently interrupted by phone calls and questions on work in progress.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to work closely with a variety of trade and craft people in a field work situation.
  • Patience and professionalism are essential.
  • Must be a strong team player with the ability to collaborate with various personnel within and across departments and at all levels of leadership.
  • Must use independent judgment, organizational and critical thinking skills to determine best method to accomplish desired results.

  • Water treatment facility project experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support meetings involving area managers, design team members, multiple subcontractors, and client representatives.
  • Interface between area managers and multiple subcontractors to assist with resolution of field coordination items.
  • Review and interpret design drawings, construction documents, and technical manuals, and quantify materials required for construction from the documents.
  • Coordinate all civil, architectural, and structural (CSA) systems within the overall project scope.
  • Assist with organizing and facilitating training of the client’s personnel in the operations and maintenance of CSA elements and systems.
  • Review and process shop drawings, product data, and technical submittal information; cross-coordinate between submittals to ensure compatibility and constructability.
  • Generate, receive, and distribute Requests for Information (RFI).
  • Receive and distribute change documents, bulletins, and field directives issued by other team members.
  • Support BIM coordination and participate in clash detection and resolution processes.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities, including pre-functional testing and systems start-up.
  • Assist in the commissioning and turnover of systems.
  • Serve as the technical advisor at the on-site field construction office.
  • Provide technical support in the field, including layout, verification, and sequencing of installations.
  • Attend and contribute to pre-installation meetings; assist in documentation of as-built conditions.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineers to ensure integration of architectural, structural, and MEP systems.
