About The Position

Reporting to the Studies Manager, the Project Engineer will support the delivery of mining project studies across Torex’s growing portfolio. The initial focus will be the Los Reyes Project in Sinaloa, Mexico, with additional support provided to projects at the Morelos Complex as required. You will serve as a key technical interface between Torex and external engineering consultants. You will review multidisciplinary engineering work, support mine design and scenario analysis, and help ensure technical deliverables meet Torex standards and project requirements. You will work closely with internal technical specialists and participate actively in consultant meetings throughout the study process. This is a new role within a growing projects team. It offers the opportunity to contribute to projects as they progress from studies through feasibility and execution, with the potential to take on broader technical and mentoring responsibilities as the portfolio expands.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, process engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer designation in Canada or eligibility to obtain an equivalent designation.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive engineering experience in the mining industry.
  • Hands-on operational experience at a mine site.
  • Experience in project engineering, mining studies, or project management.
  • Experience reviewing or contributing to mine design, mine scheduling, process plant design, or multidisciplinary engineering studies.
  • Exposure to geotechnical engineering, ventilation, dewatering, service water systems, infrastructure, or related mining disciplines.
  • Experience working with external engineering consultants and reviewing consultant deliverables for technical quality, accuracy, and practicality.
  • General knowledge of NI 43-101 requirements and CIM Best Practices, with the ability to understand and apply established standards and procedures.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, reports, designs, and study inputs from multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Ability to complete technical evaluations, scenario analysis, forecasts, and presentations using information produced by consultants.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet demanding project deadlines.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel to mine and project sites.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular business hours when required to meet critical project deadlines or accommodate site travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish language skills are considered a strong asset.
  • Experience in open-pit or underground mining is preferred.
  • Experience with Deswik is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Manager, Studies in coordinating and delivering multidisciplinary mining studies.
  • Serve as the technical lead for assigned study work and help ensure deliverables meet Torex’s technical standards and project requirements.
  • Support mine design and review technical work related to mining, processing, geotechnical engineering, infrastructure, ventilation, dewatering, and water systems.
  • Review technical information from multiple disciplines to identify inconsistencies, design concerns, or areas requiring specialist input.
  • Complete technical evaluations, design modifications, scenario analysis, forecasting, and executive-level presentations as required.
  • Monitor study progress and proactively raise technical or schedule concerns that could affect project timelines.
  • Support the development of project execution plans.
  • Act as a primary technical interface between Torex and external engineering consultants and specialists.
  • Lead or actively participate in consultant meetings related to assigned projects.
  • Communicate Torex’s technical expectations, standards, and design requirements to consultants.
  • Review consultant deliverables for technical quality, engineering accuracy, consistency, and operational practicality.
  • Coordinate reviews with Torex’s internal technical specialists when work extends beyond the role’s area of expertise.
  • Work with consultants to address technical issues, quality concerns, and potential delays.
  • Monitor consultant performance and escalate significant concerns to the Manager, Studies.
  • Maintain decision logs, technical query logs, project records, and other study documentation.
  • Manage project information within SharePoint and ensure documents are organized, current, and easily accessible.
  • Apply appropriate document control processes and Torex reporting standards.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, design documentation, study inputs, and materials required by Qualified Persons.
  • Help ensure study materials are accurate, complete, and delivered on schedule.
  • Work closely with internal teams across geology, metallurgy, mining, engineering, construction, and technical services.
  • Ensure relevant specialists are engaged when technical matters require additional review or expertise.
  • Share technical information clearly with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a collaborative project team and support future team members as Torex’s project portfolio expands.
