About The Position

Shimmick is seeking a talented and experienced Project Engineer to be based in the greater Los Angeles area. In this role, you will initially support the North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project, a progressive 19-mile transit corridor connecting North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Eagle Rock, and Pasadena. Featuring 22 new stations, the BRT line is designed to provide faster and more reliable transit options, reduce traffic congestion, and improve air quality by utilizing zero-emission electric buses. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + 8 years of heavy civil construction experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Heavy civil transportation infrastructure project experience (roadway, street improvement, earthworks, bridge structures, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous heavy civil construction experience in a self-perform environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing day-to-day project activities and field operations.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and submittals for accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare and track RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and field crews.
  • Support cost control, scheduling, and quality assurance efforts.
  • Ensure safety and environmental compliance on-site.
  • Facilitate effective communication among project stakeholders.
