About The Position

Newell Brands is searching for a highly motivated Product Engineer to play a key role in new product development efforts and implement improvements to existing products. This position will support new product development and sustaining engineering activities from concept through production launch, ensuring alignment with defined product, cost, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. The role involves working cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, sourcing, and supply chain teams to support product development and project execution, and ensuring product compliance with applicable quality, safety, and regulatory requirements, escalating risks as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering or Plastics Engineering preferred).
  • 4 plus yrs product development experience preferably with plastics.
  • Problem Solving, Organizational, Planning and prioritization, multi-tasking skills.
  • Basic competency with CAD (Solidworks or Creo) with ability to complete detailed review of 3D models and assessment of 2D drawings.
  • Working knowledge of quality methods and systems, including statistics, sampling, auditing, and structured problem‑solving methodologies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of plastic molding and extrusion manufacturing process, capabilities and design requirements desired.
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Competencies with other materials and manufacturing technologies (e.g., metals)
  • Experience in consumer product is plus.
  • Experience/competency with Electronics is plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review product designs, CAD models, and engineering documentation to assess fit, function, and manufacturability
  • Develop test plans and support execution of validation and performance testing activities
  • Apply quality engineering tools, including FMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP, during product and process development
  • Execute changes in the product using change control process
  • Investigate product and process issues, including data collection, root cause analysis, and participation in CAPA activities
  • Support customer and consumer complaint investigations and resolution of quality issues
  • Analyze product and process data to identify trends and support findings and recommendations
  • Participate in tooling reviews, manufacturing trials, and production qualification activities
  • Maintain engineering and quality documentation, including specifications, risk assessments, and validation records
