About The Position

PACCAR is a Fortune 500 company established in 1905, recognized as a global leader in the commercial vehicle, financial, and customer service fields. Kenworth Truck Company, a PACCAR division, is a manufacturer of heavy and medium duty trucks and an industry leader in providing fuel-saving technology solutions. This role will participate in the design and development of truck programs, utilizing Creo/Pro-E for part and assembly optimization, and working with internal and external organizations to validate designs. The position involves managing the product implementation process, tracking costs, and supporting new product introductions, with close collaboration across multiple PACCAR divisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
  • 5-7+ years of experience in product design and development required
  • Proven ability to lead engineering projects from concept through production, managing scope, timing, and deliverables
  • Strong expertise in cab structures, interiors, and multi-system integration, including structural components, packaging, and interface design
  • Proficient in CAD tools (Creo/Pro-E preferred) with solid understanding of materials, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes (stamping, plastics, trim systems)
  • Demonstrated ability to drive system-level design decisions impacting fit & finish, durability, and overall product performance
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently under limited direction and manage complex technical challenges
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification (or higher) or equivalent DFSS experience; demonstrated application of structured problem-solving methodologies to improve quality and performance
  • Effective communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders across functions and divisions

  • Experience in heavy-duty vehicles or automotive structures/interiors preferred

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and development of truck programs.
  • Utilize Creo/Pro-E to create optimized part and assembly of moderate to complex designs requiring independent judgment.
  • Work with internal and external organizations to validate the designs.
  • Utilize PACCAR and industry systems to manage the product implementation process, track costs, and support new product introductions.
  • Work closely with multiple PACCAR divisions.
  • Lead engineering projects from concept through production, managing scope, timing, and deliverables.
  • Lead cross-functional teams (manufacturing, validation, suppliers) to execute projects and resolve issues related to quality, durability, and integration.
  • Drive engineering solutions from concept through production to ensure successful product launch and implementation.
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor to others.
