About The Position

We are seeking a Project Engineer who thrives in a creative, collaborative environment and is excited to help deliver a wide variety of stormwater projects throughout the Rocky Mountain region. Muller Engineering Company is headquartered in Lakewood, Colorado, where team members have opportunities to collaborate in person. Our employees follow a hybrid work schedule, with the majority of our staff located throughout Colorado’s Front Range. We welcome applicants from across the continental United States, with a preference for candidates who are currently located in Colorado or are willing to relocate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • 4–10 years of experience with a focus on the design of stormwater improvements, including stream restoration and stabilization measures, culverts and storm drains, detention facilities, and water quality features.
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, such as HEC-RAS 1D/2D, SRH-2D/SMS, FLO-2D, HEC-HMS, CUHP, SWMM, StormCAD, and other culvert or open-channel design tools.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with construction engineering oversight and related processes and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado, or the ability to obtain Colorado licensure through reciprocity or transfer from another state.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with MHFD and/or CDOT criteria is preferred.
  • Experience with MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer (ORD) is a plus.
  • Experience with GIS is a plus.
  • Experience with InfoWorks ICM is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design stormwater improvements, including stream restoration and stabilization measures, culverts and storm drains, detention facilities, water quality features, and erosion and sediment control measures.
  • Design other public infrastructure improvements, including parks and facilities, trails, and localized grading projects with a focus on water resources.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, floodplain studies and permitting, geomorphic evaluations, scour analyses, erosion and sediment control planning, and master planning, including Capital Improvement Program development.
  • Assist with environmental permitting and regulatory coordination as needed.
  • Prepare construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D, construction quantities, technical specifications, reports, and other project documentation.
  • Provide construction engineering support throughout project delivery.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with project managers, design engineers, technicians, and support staff to successfully complete a variety of projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to design engineers and technicians.
  • Support Project Managers with client relations, stakeholder coordination, and subconsultant management.
  • Assist Project Managers with project management responsibilities, including project coordination, scheduling, budgeting, and delivery, with oversight and guidance from the Project Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
