About The Position

KALCON is seeking a proactive Project Engineer to serve as an Owner’s Representative, focusing on the tenant fit-out of data center buildings. This role is crucial for managing core project coordination efforts on a critical data center campus. The Project Engineer will be responsible for overseeing submittal and RFI workflows, change order management, design coordination, project closeout, payment application reviews, commissioning support, and coordinating construction activities with the full-time Operations staff. The position requires regular collaboration with internal teams and external contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, or similar field, or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of experience as a Project Engineer in assisting or supervising construction projects of increasing complexity
  • Proficiency in Procore

Responsibilities

  • Manage submittal/RFI workflow
  • Manage change order process
  • Coordinate design efforts
  • Manage project closeout
  • Review payment applications
  • Participate in commissioning
  • Coordinate construction activities with Operations staff
  • Review schedule updates bi-weekly
  • Walk the site daily to validate installation against schedule
  • Act as liaison between procurement and GC for OFCI equipment
  • Maintain client agendas and meeting minutes
  • Perform two on-site safety observations per week
  • Assist with review of pay applications and filing of lien waivers
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders on project schedule and procurement
  • Maintain a positive relationship with the general contractor's team
  • Assist with document control and issue closeout during commissioning
  • Process Purchase Orders (POs) and Change Orders
  • Lead smaller meetings and document meeting notes
  • Manage Procore directory, monthly updates, and GC Procore document control
  • Coordinate internal alignment on project document reviews, cost optimization, contract issuances, and design modifications
  • Enforce project quality controls and safety programs
  • Manage the Client safety program and provide weekly HRA site walk reports
  • Translate job requirements to execution with minimal supervision
  • Assist construction manager in preparing monthly financial updates and forecasts
  • Manage the Contractor billing process and facilitate coordination with the Client CCF department
  • Manage the change order review process turnkey
  • Input PO requests in the financial system and manage distribution
  • Facilitate page-turn design document reviews and capture comments
  • Manage Client vendors turnkey to ensure successful completion of their scope
  • Manage design team/contractors as required
  • Coordinate ongoing construction activities with Operations
  • Develop and track MOPs for critical work in live spaces
  • Provide customer support as necessary
  • Provide project commissioning support
  • Manage and maintain internal project file storage
  • Drive internal and external project closeout requirements
  • Assist the Construction department with campus and site permits
  • Update permit bond tracking sheet
  • Coordinate with local authorities to ensure permits are current
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management
