About The Position

Granite is hiring college interns for hands-on experience, mentorship, and networking. The Project Engineer Intern assists construction engineering operations to ensure construction work complies with engineering standards. Open internship positions are in Vancouver, Washington, and The Dalles, Oregon. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol testing, including pre-employment and random testing.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and currently working toward a bachelor's degree.
• 0–2 years of experience in construction estimating support, engineering, field support, or similar work.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to perform trigonometric calculations manually or with a calculator.
• Ability to assume responsibility and communicate and interact effectively with others.
• Team-oriented approach.
• Ability and willingness to follow the company’s Code of Conduct daily.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive.
• Must be safety-conscious when working around large construction equipment.
• Must be able to meet the physical demands described, including occasionally lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Course of study in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interpret designs and drawings to support takeoffs, workforce planning, bidding, and construction projects.
• Prepare and distribute required documentation to a supervisor, including status reports, punch lists, sketches of completed work, and material requirement calculations.
• Provide technical support and direction concerning project materials, specifications, delivery dates, and construction schedules.
• Assist with change orders and estimates by preparing drawings and sketches to support estimating and construction work as job requirements change.
• Develop job data, including quantity takeoffs and material pricing, to support accurate estimates and bids.
• Maintain accurate records of work quantities and installed materials for construction project cost controls.
• Comply with and support corporate safety initiatives to maintain a safe work environment.
