About The Position

Marathon Petroleum Company Ohio Refining Division is posting for Project Engineer II/III to fill a vacancy for Electrical & Instrumentation in the Engineering Department. We are seeking a motivated, team-oriented individual to provide project management and technical engineering support (focused on electrical and instrumentation) to our refinery process and operations team. Expect to manage small capital and expense projects along with daily support activities to maintain and optimize existing operating units. Projects typically range in size from $20,000 - $5,000,000. Management of multiple projects concurrently is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.
  • Two (2) years or more of industry experience is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Smart Instrumentation (SI) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise within the engineering department, supporting all phases of capital and expense projects.
  • Participate in technical reviews to ensure design meets specifications, codes and standards.
  • Define scope, provide justification (economic models or life cycle cost analysis), develop cost estimates, schedule design and implementation activities, and secure funding for capital and expense projects.
  • Utilize Electrical and Instrumentation knowledge to support the operations Area Teams, critically think and troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation problems in collaboration with Maintenance and Operations departments.
  • Apply project management skills in all phases of project engineering from conception to closeout.
  • Managing multiple projects and assignments in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner.
  • Coordinating project specific work with in-house designers and outside engineering contractors.
  • Developing and reviewing construction packages to ensure new installations meet MPC and all applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Specifying and purchasing of electrical/instrument engineered material for assigned projects.
  • Providing field construction support and final project installation sign-off.
  • Support the Process Safety Management processes for ORD assets through collaborative reviews; including unit and/or project specific HAZOPS, LOPA, PHA, MOC Hazard evaluations, or PSI updates.
  • Conferring project stakeholders throughout a project life cycle
  • Providing electrical and instrumentation assistance during Construction and Turnaround phases.
