The Project Engineer I leads a cross-functional team in meeting cost, schedule, and technical requirements throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through hardware delivery. The role supports one or more subsystems: Spacecraft Structures, Payload Structures, Mechanisms, Antennas, or Mechanical Ground Support Equipment. It is part of the Engineering, Science and Analysis Strategic Capabilities Unit, whose collaborative teams deliver technologies for customer missions. The engineer develops and manages cost baselines and schedules, monitors performance, explains cost variances, and guides the team toward commitments and milestones. The role also guides technical discussions, promotes collaboration, makes risk-based decisions, and identifies and mitigates project risks and opportunities. The position requires a regular, predictable schedule and effective working relationships across the department and business and capabilities units. This is an on-site role requiring in-person work five days each normally scheduled week at the primary work location. Travel and local commuting between company campuses and other locations may be required. Work may take place in an office, laboratory, production floor, cleanroom, outdoors, or a remote research environment; occasional production-floor work may require protective equipment, and access to other facilities may involve various weather conditions.
