Mechanical Project Engineer

T. Baker Smith•Gulfport, MS

About The Position

T. Baker Smith is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join its Engineering team. The role supports engineering, design, analysis, and execution of industrial, facilities, and pipeline projects from front-end engineering and preliminary design through construction support and commissioning. The engineer applies technical expertise in industrial, facilities, and pipeline engineering and regulatory compliance, including the design of piggable transmission systems, horizontal directional drill (HDD) crossings, pipeline facilities, and related infrastructure. The position involves independently performing engineering calculations, developing design packages, supporting project execution, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and clients. The Project Engineer plans, designs, and directs engineering projects and handles non-routine, complex assignments. Working with the Project Manager, the engineer develops design concepts and may perform some project management tasks. The position leads technical engineering work, develops project deliverables, coordinates with project teams and clients, and may supervise engineer interns or project technicians. The position is full-time and requires 40 or more hours per week. Work is performed in both office and outdoor environments, with exposure to weather and outdoor noise, dust, smells, and other environmental factors. The posting also refers to nights away from home and weekend commitments, but does not specify their frequency or whether they are required.
