As a Geotechnical Project Engineer at RK&K you will have the opportunity to work across disciplines to prepare plans and reports related to a variety of geotechnical projects for variety of clients in the transportation and municipal sectors; you will supervise field investigations and develop and review design computations; and prepare of geotechnical recommendations, contract plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates. Open to relocation within South Carolina

Requirements

  • Passion for client service and engineering
  • 5+ years of Geotechnical Design Experience
  • Knowledge of SCDOT Geotechnical Design Manual (GDM) and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specification
  • Understanding of the following: gINT, LPile, APile, MSEW, FB-Pier, and GRLWEAP
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Knowledge of Microstation
  • South Carolina Professional Engineer License
  • BS in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering

Nice To Haves

  • MS or advanced degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering
  • 10+ years of Geotechnical Design Experience
  • SCDOT experience

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the development geotechnical portion of proposals and subsurface exploration programs
  • Supervision of subsurface exploration programs
  • Preparation of Geotechnical Information Reports, Bridge Geotechnical Engineering Reports, Roadway Geotechnical Engineering Reports, and Seismic Response Analysis Reports
  • Develop geotechnical analyses and calculations using approved software
  • Review of Post-bid construction plans
  • Prepare foundations recommendations for other structures (as required)
  • Innovative design concepts related to Geotechnical Engineering to enhance project efficiency
