Our Control and Electronics group specializes in the specification, implementation, and validation of control, electronic, and electrical systems for clean propulsion and energy systems, including xEV powertrains, power electronics, motors and drives, engines, transmissions, battery management systems, advanced thermal systems, and fuel cell systems. We offer comprehensive support for electrical integration of control systems, from architecture definition and component selection to production harness and electrical distribution. This role focuses on the integration of electrical systems and components into complex products and platforms, with potential support for other technical domains based on departmental workload.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Electrical / Electronics or similar.
  • Experience in successful deployment of complex electrical systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical design principles, wiring harnesses, and circuit protection.
  • Experience providing technical leadership to engineering project teams.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet etc).
  • Proficiency in CAD tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with embedded systems and control units.
  • Experience with industrial control systems.
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards and practices.
  • Experience with prototype development and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Development of new electrical system architectures.
  • Development of electrical integration solutions for new and existing platforms.
  • Selection of components.
  • Creation and maintenance of wiring diagrams, harness layouts, and system schematics.
  • Integration of sensors, actuators, control units, and communication interfaces (CAN, Ethernet, etc.).
  • Liaison with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams to ensure compatibility and performance.
  • Conduct system-level testing and validation of integrated electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues related to power distribution, signal integrity, and communication protocols, and provide hands-on support to builds.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Documentation of integration processes, test results, and change management records.
  • Leadership to other team members in the delivery of solutions.
  • Supervision of junior team members on assigned tasks.
  • Interfacing directly with clients and suppliers on technical issues.
  • Reporting of technical status internally and to customers.
  • Focus on delivery of projects on-time and on-budget.
  • A certain amount of business travel can be expected including customer meetings, occasional on-site development support, and travel to other Ricardo sites.
