About The Position

CPH has an opening in its Linthicum Heights, Maryland office for a Project Engineer (EIT/EI) – Land Development. This role involves working under a Professional Engineer as part of a team to design and prepare technical reports, analysis, calculations, and construction documents. The position requires preparation of permit applications, coordination with various project stakeholders, and periodic travel for site investigations and construction observation. Responsibilities also include preparing specifications, reviewing shop drawings, conducting field observations, and managing construction administration tasks. Collaboration with other firm professionals, adherence to project scope, schedules, and budgets, and client management are key aspects of this role. The engineer will also be responsible for researching, interpreting, and implementing codes and client requirements, as well as utilizing company and client standards and templates. Quality control through document review and adherence to project scope, schedules, and budgets are also expected.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Civil or Environmental engineering
  • 1-5 years of experience in design and permitting of civil/land development projects in Maryland
  • Ability to model stormwater
  • Ability to design and manage small to large scale land development projects
  • Ability to research and review code requirements
  • Ability to maintain project schedule & budget
  • CAD experience is desirable.
  • E.I Certificate or ability to obtain upon starting is required.
  • Willing to work as a team
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Willing to travel intermittently to assist with site investigation, construction observation and project transmittals.
  • Maryland utility design experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Working under a Professional Engineer as a member of a team in the design and preparation of technical reports, analysis/calculations and construction documents.
  • Preparation of accurate presentation, design, details and construction documents.
  • Preparation of permit applications and submittal packages to Agencies having jurisdiction.
  • Coordination with clients, subconsultants, permitting agencies, utility providers, contractors and other parties associated with the project.
  • Periodic travel to perform site investigations, and construction observation.
  • Preparation of specifications, shop drawing review, field observations, preparation of inspection reports and other construction administration tasks.
  • Collaboration with other firm engineers, architects, disciplines, project managers, and business development teams.
  • Research, interpretation and implementation of relevant codes and client requirements.
  • Implementation and utilization of CPH and client standards and templates.
  • Review of documents prepared by others and implementation of project quality control.
  • Development and adherence to project scope, schedules, and budgets.
  • Management of clients and national account programs.
