About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring customers have continuous access to the innovation they rely on. This role is part of a creative, diverse team focused on constructing Amazon Data Centers, which are industry examples of energy-efficient, cost-effective designs. The Data Center Project Engineer will work on-site, interacting daily with construction managers and stakeholders, and will be directly responsible for supporting the fast, high-quality delivery of data center construction. This role involves owning communication and coordination with vendors, managing information workflow, and overseeing document management, including RFIs and change orders.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of vendor management experience
  • 4+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment experience
  • 5+ years of data center engineering or operations experience
  • 5+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or 1+ years of relevant discipline work experience
  • Experience in vendor management
  • Experience in a data center or other critical environment
  • Experience in data center engineering or operations
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of construction or project management experience
  • Electrical or mechanical Journeyman License
  • Operating engineering license such as DC II, DC III, or equivalent
  • Experience in construction or project management

Responsibilities

  • Establishing communication and coordination across a data center region’s general contractors, stakeholders, and internal teams.
  • Develop and maintain a tracking system for design changes, RFIs (requests for information), and change orders, and create dashboards to track this information for regional leadership review, including priority and due dates.
  • Requesting and reviewing MOPs (Method of Procedure) for proper detail, necessity, and risk.
  • On-boarding new vendors for badging and orientation.
  • Updating project management software with milestone dates, correspondence, and documents.
  • Monitor delivery of owner furnished material to site.
  • Compiling and storing construction data from vendors.
  • Managing checklists, including substantial completion checks, safety, and quality.
