About The Position

Southwest Electrical Contracting Services seeks a dedicated Project Engineer/APM to support project planning, execution, and oversight. This role involves reviewing design and bidding documents, evaluating contractor bids, and monitoring construction progress and scheduling. The Project Engineer/APM provides technical support to construction staff under the supervision of the Project Manager. While working independently on assigned tasks, this role collaborates closely with supervisors and project teams. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management and/or 5+ years’ experience in a related role.
  • Strong communication skills with a professional and polished demeanor.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and relevant construction management software.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working without direct oversight.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing project requirements.
  • Familiarity with office protocols, routines, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing cost estimates.
  • Review plans and technical documents.
  • Address inquiries regarding project scope and timelines.
  • Monitor/Track project costs, progress, and productivity.
  • Maintain and manage project documentation.
  • Update and organize project records.
  • Assist project managers and superintendents in developing and distributing project schedules.
  • Support conflict resolutions among owners, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Create, negotiate and Manage project change orders.
  • Conduct and document weekly project meetings with owners.
  • Assist in site safety documentation and coordination.
  • Support project closeout procedures.
  • Create and manage billings/invoices to customers.
  • Assist project accountants with monthly subcontractor billing and pay applications.
  • Provide direct support to the Project Manager as needed.
