About The Position

Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a Project Engineer 2 for its Trench & Shoring Division in Elkridge, MD. This role involves performing engineering design and calculations for excavation and structural shoring schemes to support Sunbelt's product lines. The position requires a solid understanding of basic structural engineering analysis and geotechnical soil properties. The Project Engineer will apply engineering principles to conduct structural analysis and design, producing project calculations and drawings under the supervision of a professional engineer.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, with a concentration in structural or geotechnical engineering, from an accredited four (4) year university or college
5+ years’ experience in engineering design, preferably structural engineering.
Familiarity with structural analysis, mechanics of materials, and soil analysis.
Proficient in Excel, Word, Mathcad, and AutoCAD or REVIT
The physical demands of this role require bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors/outdoors when required by the job.

Nice To Haves

Geotechnical knowledge a plus.
PE license highly desirable, or ability to obtain license in near future.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate highly desirable (if lacking a PE).

Responsibilities

Prepares calculations and drawings under the direction of a professional engineer
Creates drawings in support of Sunbelt equipment
Analyzes reports, project construction drawings, maps, testing data, topographical and geologic data to determine design parameters
Interacts with customers, sales, and operations
May be required to attend meetings or job sites with customers or sales/operations staff
Other duties as assigned
