About The Position

This position will assist the District Project Development Engineer with initiation, tracking, reviews, and delivering pre-Project Development & Environmental (PD&E) study work assignments to stakeholders. Requirements

  • applying highway design standards, and plans preparation.
  • engineering design, and construction, production, or operations.
  • effective written and oral communication including developing technical documents.
  • organize, analyze, evaluate, and interpret transportation engineering data.
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Four years of experience in transportation, transportation planning, public administration, engineering, environmental sciences, logistics, or related field.
  • A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in the above-mentioned fields may substitute for four years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the District Scoping Refinement Coordinator to successfully achieve a coordinated project vetting effort among various Department Offices and external customers.
  • Reviews work program candidate projects and conducts project scoping activities including project field reviews, conceptual typical sections, and identifies right-of-way requirements.
  • Develops cost estimates and updates annually.
  • Assists the District Project Development Engineer with initiation, tracking, reviews and delivering pre-Project Development & Environment (PD&E) study work assignments to stakeholders.
  • Reviews PD&E study engineering deliverables and ensures documentation in electronic database for final approval.
  • Participates in internal and external project meetings.
  • Coordinates with design project managers.
  • Writes, prepares and reviews project reports, exhibits, and presentations.
  • Develops and maintains project tracking and documentation system.
  • Assists others in application and interpretation of engineering policy.
  • Coordinates review of work packages with stakeholders.
  • Serves as project manager for planning assignments.
  • Reviews consultant proposals and assists in negotiations.
  • Prepares scopes for task work orders.
  • Assures work is performed within the scopes of approved task work orders and monitors consultant work progress.
  • Assures timely processing of invoices.
  • Receives feedback and evaluates consultant performance.
  • Serves on Technical Review Committee (TRC) in consultant acquisition for professional engineering services.
