Project Developer

TARAustin, TX
Hybrid

About The Position

As Project Developer, you own development of these behind-the-meter, utility-scale projects from site control through notice to proceed (NTP): land research, site diligence, environmental services, preliminary design coordination, permitting, and general pre-construction work. Because our campuses skip the interconnection queue, development sets the pace, and your work directly determines how fast the next campus breaks ground. This is a senior individual-contributor seat, based in Austin, with regular time on the ground at our West Texas project site.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience developing utility-scale solar and storage projects, including direct development experience in Texas.
  • Track record carrying projects from site control through NTP with full ownership of the permitting scope, including presenting to AHJs.
  • Hands-on experience with title work, land diligence, and the resolution of planning and zoning challenges.
  • Understanding of project finance constraints and what makes a project financeable.
  • Understanding of construction constraints and the levers that drive project cost and schedule.
  • Strong relationship skills with landowners, local officials, and consultants, with the judgment to negotiate directly and follow through.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing wind projects.
  • Experience with data centers or other large commercial and industrial loads.
  • Greenfield origination experience: screening land, securing site control, and building a multi-site pipeline.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools for land and site screening.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of behind-the-meter utility-scale solar and storage projects from site control through NTP, owning the integrated schedule across land, environmental, design, and permitting workstreams.
  • Own permitting end to end: build the strategy, run the research, and present projects to applicable AHJs at the county, state, and federal level (including TCEQ, FAA, and USACE) to secure approvals that hold up through financing and construction.
  • Run land research, title work, and site diligence, and resolve planning and zoning challenges before they hit project cost or schedule.
  • Lead site-owner relationship management from first contact through construction handoff, keeping site control durable across the development cycle.
  • Coordinate environmental services, studies, and consultants so environmental risk is identified and retired early.
  • Coordinate preliminary design with TAR’s in-house engineers and specialist owner’s engineers so site layouts reflect real construction constraints and cost levers.
  • Support project financing and due diligence, building the development record that lenders and investors underwrite.

Benefits

  • Up to $15K relocation bonus
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Health, Dental, Vision insurance
  • $1K monthly stipend for meals
