HDR is currently looking for a Project Delivery Leader in Missouri/Kansas. In the role of Project Delivery Leader, you will serve as part of the Missouri/Kansas Transportation Business Group Leadership team, help oversee project delivery, develop project management skills, assist the Business Group Manager in tracking project financials and assist other Project Managers with staffing and quality issues. Responsibilities will include: Partner with the Transportation Business Group Manager and Professional Services Lead to ensure the Area functions as a unit and delivery teams are empowered, supported and that staff have career development opportunities. Drive the Area transportation team to deliver successful project performance and superior project management to help foster client satisfaction through projects kept on schedule and on budget, with high quality deliverables. Develop and implement business group controls and reporting procedures to capture and manage project delivery, in alignment with corporate, regional, and area goals and practices. Assign project managers to projects and pursuits and work with project managers in planning activities. Monitor, avoid, and minimize project loss and claim. Develop and monitor recovery plans for projects not meeting established metrics. Develop project management skills - Work with the Business Group Manager in staff development, project management training and mentorship Be comfortable with being viewed as a recognized authority in the area of project management. Perform project reviews and delivery oversight including financials, schedule, quality, and project staffing Oversee section workload and coordinate staffing and workload summaries with Transportation Business Group Manager, Business Class Leaders and Professional Services Leader. Collaborate effectively with TBG operations, market leadership / sectors, business classes, and delivery leaders. Streamline Area project management processes (remove barriers to execution). Serve as a champion for cross business group pursuits and initiatives. Participate in technical delivery program development Serve as a PIC, Project Manager, Client Manager on multiple pursuits, projects and clients concurrently. Possible MOA responsibilities delegated from Area Manager and Business Group Manager. Participate in TBG strategic planning and plan implementation. Participate in key pursuit teaming, staffing discussion, risk assessments, and scope and fee development and review. Support TBG activities related to hiring and retaining key staff. Actively participate in annual budgeting. Make recommendations for salary and staffing adjustments. Perform other duties as needed Additional activities may include: Plan, direct and monitor all aspects of large multidiscipline projects, involving a large project staff Manage and coordinate several projects concurrently Recruiting Establish client relations and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings Work with the Area Accounting Manager, Project Coordinator, Professional Services Manager and Area Manager for project reviews Implement QA/QC procedures Execute training for personnel as established by strategic plans Supervise staff and act as mentor for Project Managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in a related field
  • A minimum 15 years' of experience
  • Maintains professional or engineering registration and has extensive related technical expertise
  • Experienced in management and development of diverse teams
  • Works cooperatively with operations managers, technical staff and marketing managers on professional services-related efforts
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Nice To Haves

  • BSCE is required, MSCE preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years of project management related experience
  • Excellent project management, leadership and organizational skills
  • Previous experience managing staff, clients and contracts for an engineering team
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Familiarity with project management software
  • Strong oral and written communication and listening skills
