About The Position

BC Ferries is undertaking a major multi-year infrastructure program at the Horseshoe Bay and Langdale terminals, modernizing two of our busiest transportation hubs to improve service reliability, enhance the customer experience, and support safe, efficient operations for millions of passengers each year. To help deliver this transformative work, we're seeking a Project Coordinator, Terminal Construction to join our team at Horseshoe Bay. Working closely with Project Managers, you'll support the planning, design, procurement, construction, and close-out of complex terminal infrastructure projects. As part of the Owner's team, you'll collaborate with consultants, contractors, regulators, First Nations, community stakeholders, and internal partners to deliver projects that balance technical excellence, operational needs, and public accountability. Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline, with ability to be registered with EGBC or ASTTBC
  • Two or more years of related engineering, construction, or project coordination experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical and administrative information to a wide range of audiences
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and build trusted working relationships with project teams, consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, government representatives, Indigenous Nations, stakeholders, and internal partners
  • Demonstrated strengths in leadership, organization, time management, problem-solving, and sound judgement, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic project environment
  • Solid technical understanding of planning, design, and construction methods relevant to terminal or major infrastructure projects, including knowledge of applicable building codes, standards, and regulations
  • Proficiency with business and project management tools, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Microsoft Project, and IBM Maximo, with overall strong computer literacy
  • A proactive, adaptable, and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout coastal British Columbia for periods of up to several days at a time
  • Valid BC Driver's Licence, with access to a personal vehicle for business travel or the ability to rent a vehicle when required

Responsibilities

  • Supporting Project Managers in the planning, design, procurement, construction, and close-out of capital and operating projects, including project scope development, scheduling, budgeting, phasing plans, project execution plans, governance documentation, and stakeholder and First Nations engagement activities;
  • Supporting the Program Manager, Reporting and Governance with monitoring project progress and supporting reporting activities, including budget tracking and management, variance analysis, status reporting, document organization and records management, and the communication of technical and administrative information to Project Managers, leadership, and executives;
  • Coordinating the procurement of services and materials and supporting contract administration activities, including tender and contract preparation, contractor prequalification, bid evaluations, purchase orders, work orders, permitting, document control, invoice reviews, and project records management;
  • Assisting with project delivery in the field through site supervision, site visits, site orientations, inspections, meetings, contractor coordination, change management, handover documentation, and warranty follow-up;
  • Participating in technical reviews, site investigations, drawing reviews, and design coordination meetings with consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders;
  • Organizing and participating in meetings with consultants, contractors, regulators, First Nations, community members, stakeholders, and internal teams, including preparing meeting materials, minutes, and follow-up actions;
  • Supporting and, where appropriate, leading technical investigations and departmental initiatives while maintaining compliance with BC Ferries' policies, standards, and project management practices;
