About The Position

SEWS—El Paso Customer Service Center (Eastside) is seeking a Project Coordinator (Material Control) to coordinate and procure mass production and prototype raw material required for the wire harness business. This role involves balancing physical inventory, preventing line shutdowns, and facilitating the early launch of assigned programs. The coordinator will follow up on new model vehicles, place prototype orders, maintain budgeted inventory levels, and manage potential obsolescence. They will also provide implementation dates for new components to the design section to manage component lifecycles and prevent obsolescence, and create Phase Out Letters to suppliers. This position acts as a liaison between the customer OEM, internal departments such as program management, procurement, engineering, production planning, and material control. The role actively facilitates and coordinates all OEM production phases, prepares raw material through IPS simulation, and may require travel to manufacturing sites. The Project Coordinator will also monitor Material Planners, assign carriers for expediting, and track shipments to prevent plant downtime.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in related field
  • 3 - 5 years of progressive experience in a related field
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations required in order to understand material flow and problem solving
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work with deadlines
  • Effective analytical, written, oral communication, negotiating skills are a must
  • Working knowledge of MS Office such as word, excel, and PowerPoint programs
  • Be able to facilitate and coordinate all OEM's production phases to include tool trial, pre-production and mass Production
  • Capable to identify supplier delivery issues on a timely manner and develop structure plan for supplier to get back on track, this could consist on increasing meetings with suppliers, requesting recovery plan and escalating issue to higher levels within supplier and SEWS
  • Positive attitude and team personality

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and procure mass production and prototype raw material (saleable events) required for wire harness business, while balancing physical inventory and preventing line shutdown.
  • Review, release, and interpret forecast information to assigned vendor base.
  • Review of backorders and issuance of Supplier Delivery Non Conformance and Payment Deduction Notice to vendor base.
  • Facilitate early launch of assigned program(s) at all different stages.
  • Follow up of new model vehicles and placement of prototype orders for trial and mass production start ups.
  • Inform production plants of material arrivals and or advise of any potential problems there production can encounter.
  • Generation of forecast report, inventory report, obsolescence control, downtime, and others as needed.
  • Maintain budgeted DOI and potential obsolescence for assigned program.
  • Provide implementation dates for new components on ECN/CCR to design section to start up a new component and phasing out old components to avoid obsolescence.
  • Responsible to create Phase Out Letters to Suppliers to prevent obsolescence.
  • Work as a liaison between, customer OEM, division program management, procurement, engineering, production planning, material control among other internal departments.
  • Actively facilitate and coordinate all OEM's production phases to include tool trial, pre production and mass Production.
  • Prepare raw material by means of IPS simulation of the bill of materials for each platform in advance of saleable prototype events.
  • Travel to manufacturing sites as needed for communication and streamlining of the various production phases.
  • Closely monitor and supervise Material Planners in review of PO issuance, backorders and Purchase order confirmation status as needed.
  • Assigning of carriers (Fedex/UPS/DHL) when expediting.
  • Tracking and follow up of shipments is required to avoid downtime at plants.
  • Other duties as needed.
