About The Position

The Project Coordinator Intern is a new opportunity within OAMH that provides critical operational and project support in support of the Office’s mandate, including its legislated responsibilities under the Involuntary Psychiatric Treatment Act (IPTA). The role offers hands-on experience in core public service functions, including policy research and analysis, preparation of briefing materials, coordination of governance processes, and working within a legislated and accountable decision-making environment. As the Project Coordinator Intern, you will report to a Senior Strategist in OAMH.

Requirements

  • Graduated within the past three years from a university, community college, or a recognized trade school.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills and are able to prepare clear, concise, and accurate materials for a range of audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and respectful workplace practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in sound judgment and attention to detail, especially with confidential information.
  • Demonstrated experience in records and information management; including the development and management of databases.
  • Demonstrated experience in research and policy analysis, including collecting key information through activities such as jurisdictional scans and literature reviews, and synthesizing findings to inform decision-making.
  • Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively in team environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is required.

  • Preferred education includes: Data or information management, business administration, health sciences, or public administration.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate IPTA Review Board administrative activities and hearings while maintaining secure and accurate case records within legislated timelines.
  • Support data collection, reporting, and policy and operational improvements related to IPTA legislative requirements.
  • Provide quality improvement support to records and information management processes, including developing and maintaining databases, improving tracking systems, and ensuring consistency, accuracy, and accountability in documentation and reporting for OAMH.
  • Provide analytical support for the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies, programs, and initiatives across the Office.
  • Contribute to effective team functioning by supporting a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative workplace and maintaining strong internal communication.
