About The Position

BC Ferries is initiating a significant Fleet Renewal program to address challenges related to system capacity, aging assets, and environmental sustainability. This program involves introducing new vessels and undertaking major upgrades to shore-based infrastructure and facilities, alongside an ambitious electrification initiative. These combined efforts represent the largest capital investment in the company's history. The Project Coordinator will support civil, marine, electrical, and building infrastructure projects by performing a wide range of project, administrative, and technical coordination activities. This includes assisting with planning, scheduling, and budgeting, organizing inspections, supporting design development and procurement, preparing tenders and contracts, and overseeing construction. The role provides professional support to project managers and department leadership, and may independently manage smaller projects under guidance. The projects are in active construction phases, and the Project Coordinator will play a key role in onsite construction and operational support, as well as asset management tasks for new terminal assets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or closely related discipline
  • 1-3 years of project management experience in infrastructure, design, construction, or related field

Responsibilities

  • Developing scope, schedule, budgets, phasing plans, project management plans, project governance documents, and stakeholder and First Nation engagement plans.
  • Securing services and materials, tender and contract preparation, contractor pre-qualification, and bid assessments.
  • Site supervision, taking minutes at site meetings, conducting site orientations, managing contract changes, inspecting work, and reviewing hand over documents.
  • Reviewing drawings and reports, conducting site investigations and inspections, and participating in design meetings with consultants.
  • Contract administration, document control, progress reporting, budget management, permitting, variance analysis, document control, filing, and reviewing invoices.
  • Organizing and participating in meetings with consultants, contractors, stakeholders, the public, First Nations, and regulatory agencies, and preparing and distributing minutes.
  • Ensuring a high degree of professionalism throughout all activities, consistent with corporate standards and processes.
