About The Position

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking an Academic Graduate Appointee (AGA) to support a variety of projects within the Energy and Homeland Security’s Cyber and Infrastructure Resilience (CIR) Program. This role involves assisting project teams with budget tracking, milestone management, deliverable oversight, and status reporting. The AGA will collaborate closely with principal investigators, Associate Program Leaders (APLs), and technical staff, contributing to the successful execution of projects aimed at advancing science and technology for national security. This is a one-year appointment with the potential for extension to two years.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, Project Management or other related fields.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), business analytics tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar) and common collaboration tools (Teams, SharePoint, or similar).
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to present and communicate concepts and ideas.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated exposure through coursework or relevant experience to one or more of the following topics: governmental accounting, financial reporting, data analysis, data visualization, large dataset analysis, Excel, business statistics, risk assessment.
  • Must be awarded a degree by the time of the employment offer.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen to obtain a Q-level clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with basic project management concepts (milestones, dependencies, risks, action items).
  • Experience creating or maintaining Excel-based trackers and presenting data clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Support principal investigators by tracking schedules, milestones, deliverables and budgets across projects.
  • Assist with basic project budget support by tracking planned versus actuals, supporting financial reporting, and flagging variances for review.
  • Participate in project meetings and ensure tracking and follow up on action items.
  • Communicate project status to project teams.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to help resolve routine project issues in a timely manner.
  • Maintain organized project documentation including schedules, meeting notes, deliverables, and status reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
