About The Position

The Project Controls III - Aviation professional is responsible for supporting large-scale capital improvement programs through advanced cost controls, forecasting, reporting, and project performance analysis. This role works collaboratively with project management, finance, estimating, scheduling, and risk teams to ensure accurate program reporting, cost visibility, and successful project delivery throughout the full project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related field required.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 15 years of project controls experience, preferably supporting large-scale aviation, transportation, infrastructure, or public works programs.
  • Experience supporting multi-million-dollar capital construction projects required.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex project controls functions in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information to technical and executive-level audiences.
  • Ability to interface effectively with diverse stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and project teams.
  • Self-starter with a proactive, results-oriented approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management information systems.
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat required.
  • Proof of legal ability to work in the United States and conduct a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with large-scale alternative delivery projects strongly preferred, including Design-Build, CMAR, Progressive Design-Build, or similar delivery methods.
  • Experience in additional project controls disciplines such as scheduling, estimating, forecasting, or risk management is strongly desired.
  • Experience with PMWeb or similar PMIS platforms preferred.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, PE, AACE, LEED, PMISP, or related credentials are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize project management information systems (PMIS) and related tools to review project cost and contract performance and identify variances, trends, and risks across capital programs.
  • Develop and maintain programmatic policies, procedures, dashboards, and reporting tools to support effective cost controls and program transparency.
  • Perform independent analysis of project cost and contract performance throughout the project lifecycle, including budgeting, invoice review, forecasting, progress reporting, resource tracking, and project closeout.
  • Assist with development and administration of program and project budgets.
  • Collaborate with project teams and risk management staff to evaluate and report project and program-level risks.
  • Support development of tools and standardized practices for cost recording, monitoring, forecasting, and reporting to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior controls and cost engineering staff.
  • Coordinate with finance, estimating, and project controls teams regarding capitalization, forecasting, and expenditure reporting.
  • Support internal and external audit efforts related to project controls, financial reporting, and program compliance.
  • Prepare executive-level reports and presentations related to project performance, cost status, and program metrics.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including project management, scheduling, estimating, procurement, and construction management personnel.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting records in accordance with program standards and contractual requirements.
  • Regularly monitor project progress and identify potential cost or schedule impacts.
  • Completes special projects on an as-needed basis.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives related to project controls processes and reporting tools.
  • Maintains professional development through continuing education, professional organization memberships, and certification achievement.
  • Works proactively to identify innovative solutions and process improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
