About The Position

The Contract Project Controls Cost Specialist/Analyst will be responsible for providing cost engineering services for small capital projects being managed within the Engineering Department. This role involves providing project management with forward-looking information, identifying expected project performance, and comparing it against performance targets. The specialist will act as a project team member, providing relevant input and analysis to facilitate timely decision-making. Key responsibilities include ensuring construction control estimates align with the decision support package's budget before execution, managing changes to the project budget, and coordinating with various departments such as Engineering, Maintenance, Accounting, and Project Team personnel.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction/Project Management, Business Administration, Accounting
Minimum of 7 years of experience in project controls / cost control in EPC capital projects
Proficient in Microsoft Office products - Excel, Access, Powerpoint, Word, Outlook

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with SAP, EcoSys, P6, and/or Icarus software is a plus

Responsibilities

Participate with the project team in the development of the plan for the project establishing the WBS
Work with outside engineering firms to ensure project cost control expectations and deliverables are met via facilitating project controls workshop and participating in project meetings
Review of cost estimates for projects and development of the control budget from these estimates and phase decision support package
Work with the project team to establish planned cash flow of project expenditures
Ensure the planned schedule in the decision support package is aligned with the control budget and cash flow
Performs project set up in client's Integrated Project System (IPS)
Manages and issues work orders from IPS for the execution of work
Review budget proposals for accuracy in cost and schedule
Monitor and report project costs and perform analysis regarding deviations from the control budget
Calculate monthly accruals, include in forecasts, and communicate to accounting department
Develop with the project team realistic forecasts of the overall project cost and schedule
Manage, document, and communicate change to the project budget
Facilitate and participate in risk assessments, peer reviews, and audits as necessary
Facilitates and lead the development and review of the monthly project status report (PSR)
Evaluate project risks and communicate cost and/or schedule exposure to project management
Facilitate the project closeout process
Provide project cost and schedule information in IPA format if project is being submitted for benchmarking
