About The Position

Coordinate and oversee project controls. Provides support for project planning, cost estimating and monitoring, and quality review. Recommends operating policies and procedures to mitigate risk. Provides guidance and consultation for project managers. Performs a variety of tasks in support of assigned projects. Position requires a wide degree of creativity and latitude. This is a full-time position that will continue through the duration of the project contract with an anticipated conclusion on or before December 31, 2027

Requirements

  • The English language adequate for effective spoken, written, and phone communication.
  • Knowledge of standard accounting methods, project scheduling, accounting and financial information for preparation of proposals.
  • Familiar with supply chain logistics, maritime shipping industry, system safety and reliability, shipyard safety requirements.
  • Capabilities to develop, understand, interpret and analyze.
  • Computer proficiency, including but not limited to MS Office Suite, SAP, CRM and MS Project.
  • Excellent communication and human relation skills necessary in dealing with Foss employees, subcontractors, vendors, and customers.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive coherent written technical reports.
  • Ability to plan and organize work in an often-changing environment.
  • Ability to remain calm and maintain a sense of humor during times of stress.
  • Ability to use a personal computer for word-processing, spreadsheets, SAP, and scheduling software (P6 or MS Project).
  • Ability to give attention to detail, to make decisions, and to solve problems (sometimes involving complex technical or management issues).
  • A bachelor's degree and five (5) years of relevant experience in the marine, construction or logistics industry including project management or relevant experience.
  • A degree in accounting, business, logistics or construction management is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Tracks project documentation, including performance, requests for information, cost and schedule objectives.
  • Obtains concurrence of project management from other Foss departments, customers, vendors, etc., on objectives.
  • Responsible for identifying, developing and providing daily, weekly and monthly project progress reports, both internal and external.
  • Responsible for document submittments, tracking of documents, and tracking of comments and revisions to documents.
  • Responsible for developing project accounting structure and ensure project personnel are correctly assigning costs to allocated structure. Carries out required tradeoff studies.
  • Attends customer project progress meetings and provides detailed reports on progress made.
  • Communicates (written, verbal, telephone) with others involved internally and externally.
  • Recommends means and methods to improve project margin.
  • Identifies and solves problems as required.
  • Measures results against the plan (cost, schedule, and performance) and communicates results to others.
  • Responsible for tracking project accounts receivable and accounts payable and developing and providing reports of the same.
  • Responsible for progress tracking to support customer invoicing based upon progress made.
  • Responsible for developing, maintaining and providing project margin reports.
  • Responsible for tracking percent complete for project management and submittals.
  • Responsible for supporting project personnel in coordinating purchasing activities.
  • Supports business development team on developing customer proposals on an as needed and as available basis.
  • Supports project team on responding to customer technical questions or requests for information (RFI) on an as needed and as available basis.
  • Supports financial team in developing monthly and annual budget and forecast activities outside of current assignment.

  • Vacation - Foss appreciates how hard employees work and recognizes the importance of providing time for rest and relaxation. In this position you will accrue 10 days of vacation a year with a maximum accrual of 160 hours. Accrued vacation will be vested and available for use after successfully completing six (6) months of service.
  • Nine (9) paid holidays with two (2) additional floating holidays available after six (6) months of service.
  • Full time employees will accrue ninety-six (96) hours of sick leave per year, up to a maximum of 1,040 hours.
  • Bereavement Leave - three (3) paid days off for a death in the immediate family, or five (5) days off if travel greater than 500 miles is required.
