About The Position

The Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating all aspects of the programs and services offered through Project Connect which includes monthly LGBTQ health and wellness workshops, a youth mentorship for empowerment program, and best practice trainings to health and human service providers on medically underserved populations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum work experience equivalent to 1 year of full-time work experience or high school diploma/GED and work experience equivalent to 3 years of full-time work experience.
  • Knowledge of health seeking behavior of target population or health belief of target population
  • Ability to work in diverse cultural environments;
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Creative, independent team player capable of working within an organizational structure.
  • Ability to use common office software: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
  • Ability to use public transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in one or more Asian languages preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a year-long health and wellness workshop curriculum that helps priority populations build important skills around healthy relationships and self-care as well as receive information about safe spaces and services in the community;
  • Market and promote Project Connect to the community to ensure that programs and services are appropriate, well-branded and reflective of the needs of the community;
  • Recruit and retain a core group of mentors to provide a safe-space and supportive community for youth to discuss their identities
  • Conduct outreach to other community-based organizations to raise awareness of the unique needs of the target communities and increase capacity to serve this population;
  • Represent Project Connect as well as Apicha Community Health Center at various health fairs and other community events;
  • Conduct on-going quality assurance and evaluation activities to ensure that Project Connect is reaching its intended audience and meeting its outlined goals;
  • Timely submission of project reports and data entry as required by funder;
  • Recruit and retain a core group of mentors to provide a safe-space and supportive community for youth to discuss their identities
  • Facilitate a series of informal roundtable discussions with volunteer mentors and young participants covering a wide range of topics (i.e., building supportive networks and self-esteem, coming out to family members and in the workplace)
