About The Position

We are SLR Consulting (Americas), a 1500+ team of advisory, environmental, engineering, and regulatory professionals across Canada, the United States, and LATAM. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of over 30 advisory, technical environmental, and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability. We are Making Sustainability Happen. As our new Project/ Associate Level Air Quality Engineer or Scientist, you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal. We’re looking for a candidate who’s eager to tackle complex environmental challenges and drive innovative solutions that protect public health and the planet. Qualified candidates will have previous work experience in air quality consulting or related disciplines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical, Petroleum, Mechanical or Environmental a plus) Environmental Science, Chemistry, or related scientific field required.
  • 6+ years of California air quality work experience.
  • Knowledge of California and federal environmental regulations, such as Title V, PSD, GHG Reporting, NSPS, NESHAP, RMP.
  • Experience with air compliance and permitting.
  • Experience with reporting programs such as air emissions inventory, greenhouse gases, annual/semi-annual air permit reports, annual air compliance certifications, monthly air permit reports.
  • Understanding of industrial operations and combustion equipment.
  • Strong written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of software.
  • Possess valid driver’s license.
  • Willing to travel by airplane and car, including overnight travel.
  • Ability to interface with clients and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze industrial processes and operations to quantify air pollutant emissions.
  • Provide air quality permitting and regulatory compliance support to industrial clients in California.
  • Perform emissions estimate calculations to aid in permitting, emissions inventories, and annual compliance reporting.
  • Review federal, state, and local regulations to identify applicable requirements governing the operation of air emission sources.
  • Prepare air quality permit applications to obtain authorization to construct and operate air pollutant emission sources.
  • Manage tasks and communicate status with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and use data management systems and tools to track compliance with permit requirements and air regulations and to prepare compliance reports.
  • Prepare proposals, reports and other written deliverables.
  • Travel to clients’ facilities for inspections and document review.
  • Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
