About The Position

Georgetown University is seeking a Part-Time Project Assistant for the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center – Oncology/Cancer Prevention and Control Program/GUMC. This role will provide crucial support for two NCI R01 funded grants focused on outreach, genetic education, and cancer genetic testing in cancer survivors, as well as secondary support for projects funded through the Fisher Center. The position involves direct patient interaction, data management, and administrative tasks to ensure the successful execution of research studies.

Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S. in a behavioral science or public health related discipline.
  • At least one year of public health or social science research experience at the undergraduate or professional level.
  • Experience that includes interaction with human subjects and data management.
  • Extreme sensitivity to patient and clinic needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with database software (REDCap, MS Access).
  • Experience with statistical software (SPSS, SAS, R).

Responsibilities

  • Electronic health record review to identify eligible patients.
  • Recruiting eligible cancer survivors.
  • Conducting intervention usability testing sessions.
  • Conducting telephone-based study surveys.
  • Monitoring and tracking study milestones.
  • Data entry and data tracking.
  • Maintaining files.
  • Conducting quality assurance.
  • Database programming and management using RedCap.
  • Collecting behavioral and epidemiological data, including initial and follow-up telephone interviews.
  • Confirming subject eligibility through EHR review.
  • Recruiting eligible patients.
  • Ensuring completion of surveys in accordance with projected numbers and established time frames.
  • Reviewing patient charts for pathology information.
  • In-person and telephone study recruitment.
  • Approaching and recruiting genetic counseling and breast cancer patients by telephone or in person.
  • Reviewing patient records for eligibility.
  • Consulting with clinical staff regarding patient eligibility.
  • Performing database programming, data entry, and data tracking.
  • Entering survey results and registering new patients into databases.
  • Performing quality checks on existing data.
  • Tracking patients, maintaining contact logs, and hard copy files of study materials.
  • Conducting literature reviews.
  • Participating in manuscript preparation.
  • Helping organize and coordinate study-related meetings.
