Austin Commercial is seeking a Project Area Manager for our Southeast Division based out of Orlando, Florida. This role provides leadership across multiple project teams, drives operational excellence, builds strong client relationships, and helps shape the future growth of the business. Requirements

  • B.S. in construction management/science, engineering, or relevant discipline strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Generally requires 15+ years of combined project management and field operations experience.
  • Successful completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training required (may obtain within first year of employment).
  • Ability to build and lead high performing teams at multiple projects concurrently.
  • Recognized as an industry leading subject matter expert.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee large, complex commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Reviews jobsite progress on assigned projects at regular intervals by attending OAC meetings and meeting with the project manager, superintendent, and others assigned to the project, covering safety, startup activities, hoisting equipment, planning and scheduling, quality, subcontractor performance, project buyouts, prime contract change orders, and costs.
  • Establishes and maintains an ongoing liaison with officers and directors of various companies within the industry (competing general contractors, owner groups, architectural firms, subcontractors, suppliers, etc.) to negotiate and resolve operating problems and foster new work prospects.
  • Takes an active role in business development; may lead such discussions and/or serve as a member of the Austin presentation team.
  • Reviews final cost estimates for a project before formal proposal is submitted and may suggest specific contract language.
  • Works with the corporate Risk Management department to ensure overall insurance requirements are met and compliance with subcontractor Risk Management.
  • Offers suggestions and recommendations impacting both the short-term and long-term goals and objectives of the company; actively participates in strategic planning and influences how specific goals will be achieved.
  • Assumes a leadership role in the career planning and development of project personnel, including project assignments, merit increases, promotions, and decisions to promote hourly staff to salary.
  • Reviews the job status report coming from the Performance Reporting System; notes major deviations from the plan and investigates the cause during periodic visits to the jobsite.
