Austin Commercial is seeking a Project Area Manager for our Southeast Division based out of Orlando, Florida. This role involves providing leadership across multiple project teams, driving operational excellence, building strong client relationships, and contributing to business development, strategic planning, and mentoring future leaders within the company's employee-owned culture. Austin Commercial is a leading construction firm with over 100 years of experience, specializing in various commercial construction projects.

Requirements

  • B.S. in construction management/science, engineering, or relevant discipline strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Generally requires 15+ years of combined project management and field operations experience.
  • Successful completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Industry Outreach Training required (may obtain within first year of employment).
  • Ability to build and lead high performing teams at multiple projects concurrently.
  • Recognized as an industry leading subject matter expert.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee large, complex commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Review jobsite progress on assigned projects by attending OAC meetings and meeting with project teams to discuss safety, startup activities, hoisting equipment, planning and scheduling, quality, subcontractor performance, project buyouts, prime contract change orders, and costs.
  • Establish and maintain an ongoing liaison with industry professionals, including competing general contractors, owner groups, architectural firms, subcontractors, and suppliers, to resolve operating problems and foster new work prospects.
  • Take an active role in business development, potentially leading discussions or serving on the Austin presentation team.
  • Review final cost estimates for projects before proposal submission and suggest specific contract language.
  • Work with the corporate Risk Management department to ensure insurance requirements and subcontractor compliance are met.
  • Offer suggestions and recommendations impacting short-term and long-term company goals and objectives, participating in strategic planning.
  • Assume a leadership role in the career planning and development of project personnel, including project assignments, merit increases, promotions, and decisions regarding hourly staff to salary transitions.
  • Review job status reports from the Performance Reporting System, noting deviations from the plan and investigating causes during jobsite visits.
