About The Position

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is seeking a Project Architect with extensive practice experience to oversee projects in the office, manage project teams, and mentor less experienced staff. This role involves a significant amount of time in the office, but also includes fieldwork and client meetings. The Project Architect will be involved in conceptual design, planning, and programming, and will be heavily involved in contractor communications. This position is responsible for overseeing each phase of projects, including technical work, scheduling, budget management, and project communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from accredited university
  • 10+ Years of relevant experience post-graduation, preferred
  • Certification as a licensed professional is required
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite

Responsibilities

  • Fully competent in all aspects of architecture
  • Subject matter expert on Architectural processes, procedures, and technology
  • Responsible for projects of a larger scale and complexity; including leadership of lower level staff
  • Reviews completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations
  • Responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned major project, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that best meets the client’s needs
  • Provides professional architectural consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large complex projects
  • Independently applies advanced architectural concepts and designs
  • Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures
  • May provide guidance to less experienced architects
  • Participates in the conceptual design and provides full support through the entire project
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert on specialized systems
  • Liaises with other Architects and consultants
  • Develops and represents lead technical viewpoint on projects
  • Coordinates with Department Head on appropriate technical solutions and product strategies
  • Executes cross discipline checks and coordination
  • Reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance
  • Recognizes and reports risk management issues to Project Architect as appropriate
  • Highly involved in the understanding of client needs
  • Understand the profession’s ethical obligation to Client and the public welfare
  • Assist with reviewing and defining scope of work issues with Consultants and Contractors
  • Leads or manages lower level staff members on technical work
  • Assists in the development of lower level staff
  • Work across disciplines and office locations to fully utilize firm experiential knowledge
  • Assist others with technical mentoring
  • Recognize the role as a team player
  • Represent the firm in all aspects of projects and assignments to prospective employees, clients, and the communities we serve

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from Clients or regulatory agencies
  • Prepare reports and technical memorandums; partners Architecture leaders on finalize product
  • Ability to effectively present information in oral and written format
  • Provides input to improving project delivery processes and standards.
  • Contributes to Client Services team.
  • Actively participate in local professional society.
  • Participate in community service activities and understand implications of involvement.
