About The Position

Performs daily support and troubleshooting, project management, and a variety of engineering work in designing, planning, implementing, constructing, operating, and maintaining systems, procedures, equipment, and facilities. Works closely with other engineers in the development and application of systems, procedures, and equipment to increase production quality, efficiency, or volume. Keeps necessary records, develops and presents reports and other documentation. Investigates rejects and failure patterns, and performs root cause analyses using a variety of problem-solving techniques. Develops, implements, and works to instructions, specifications, and procedures, both written and verbal. Acts to maintain the integrity of processes and products. Performs related and additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years prior experience in an industrial control setting
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office, CMMS, and Prior PLC logic programming experience, AC and DC drives programming, Temperature controllers programming, AutoCAD Software, C++ training a plus
  • Self-Motivated and Team-Oriented experience
  • Work well with all levels of management and trades, and must have good communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Designs new electrical controls for production machinery fabricated at AstenJohnson Hampton facility, including meeting with production personnel, vendors, directing contractors, debugging software, and providing engineering support during production.
  • Designs new equipment upgrades on existing Allen Bradley, GE Fanuc, and Siemens PLC's, relays, contactors, electromechanical, electronic, and electrical components as they apply to production machinery and instrumentation.
  • Diagnoses and repairs DC drives and 3-phase 460 AC drives, motor controllers, pressure sensors, and circuit boards.
  • Supports the parts department, including spare parts inventory, locating unavailable parts, and sending out bids for electrical parts.
  • Provides engineering support for diagnosing and repairing electrical control problems in automated equipment in a large industrial manufacturing plant.
  • Performs power distribution design.
  • Diagnoses chronic problems, performs inspections, and calibrations as needed.
  • Responsible for documentation upkeep for all new electrical designs and electrical changes (electrical drawings, working procedures, machine documents, PLC software, drives programs, and temperature controller programs) at Production Lines and communicating the results to support staff.
  • Interfaces with vendors to specify the right equipment, cost, and delivery time for the job.
  • Supports a maintenance staff in a plant that runs 24/7.
  • Project Management (Responsible for not only design but parts procurement and contractors for installations).
  • Supports electrical problems at AJNW after hours either by phone or in person for support accordingly to resolve issues timely.
