Requirements

  • 3+ years of accounting experience required.
  • Experience with construction accounting and job costing is preferred.
  • Associate's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent accounting experience, particularly in construction or manufacturing environments, will also be considered.
  • Understand cost accounting principles, project profitability, inventory transactions, labor costing, and financial reporting.
  • Able to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
  • Working knowledge of ERP and double-entry accounting systems.
  • Has knowledge of and experience with standard accounting software such as Foundations, Great Plains, Sage, and Peachtree.
  • Strong organizational skills with careful attention to financial accuracy, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Manages deadlines effectively and takes ownership of assigned accounting responsibilities.
  • Communicates clearly, works well with others, and is comfortable asking questions to ensure accuracy and understanding.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor job costs, labor costs, and project profitability, providing meaningful financial insights that help leadership make informed business decisions.
  • Analyze cost accounting data, inventory transactions, and cost of goods sold (COGS) to ensure accurate financial reporting and operational performance.
  • Support billing, accounts receivable, and general accounting operations, including journal entries, accruals, and monthly close activities.
  • Maintain and improve job costing, labor tracking, and financial analysis tools to support project and company performance.
  • Perform reconciliations (balance sheet, bank, and credit cards), assist with fixed assets, and help prepare financial statements for management.
  • Partner with leadership to identify trends, improve processes, and strengthen financial controls as the company continues to grow.
