About The Position

The Progressive Care CNA, also referred to as a PCU CNA, Stepdown CNA, or Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) CNA, works in a step-down unit and provides essential support to nurses through direct care for patients who require close monitoring but are more stable than ICU patients. This is a per diem position at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas, with varied shifts; the listed shift is nights.

Requirements

Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, required.
Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintain current.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintained current, if required by the facility.

Nice To Haves

At least six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician's office is preferred.
Experience in a Critical Care Unit (CCU), Telemetry (Tele), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), or another acute care hospital area is encouraged.

Responsibilities

Assist patients with personal hygiene and comfort, including bathing, dressing, feeding, and toileting.
Monitor and document vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature.
Assist patients with transfers, repositioning, and ambulation.
Observe patients for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff.
Support basic medical procedures under nurse supervision, such as collecting specimens or assisting with wound care.
Maintain a clean and safe environment, including following infection control measures.
