About The Position

The Office of the Vice-Principal Academic & Dean is a collaborative unit that works extensively with faculty and staff across the University of Toronto and, in particular, on the Mississauga campus. Staff work together closely to rapidly respond to a myriad of academic issues. Our academic programming is innovative and creative and designed to equip students for the future as we emphasize communication, innovation and sustainability throughout our curriculum. This position reports directly to the Associate Director, Academic Programs & Quality Assurance, and supports the operational needs of the Program & Curriculum Unit (PCU). General areas of responsibility of the PCU include academic programs and planning; curriculum review and development; UTQAP and cyclical reviews; promotion of teaching and learning issues and development; benchmarking and research including enrollment planning and program development, and tri-campus affairs. This position will be responsible for day-to-day client service, project management, and administrative processes for UTQAP and cyclical reviews, and academic change (e.g. new academic programs including certificates and focuses, major modifications, closures). This position works closely with academic units and serves as a resource to faculty and staff on university quality assurance and interpretation of academic policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years related experience in undergraduate and graduate academic program development and cyclical reviews in a university setting, or comparable work environment
  • Experience coordinating complex and multi-stage projects involving multiple stakeholders
  • Experience and familiarity with the administration of university quality assurance and academic policies
  • Experience working within a quality assurance or regulatory framework, ideally within a university environment, and ensuring documents or decisions align with that framework
  • Direct experience in editing complex documents for clarity and logical cohesion
  • Experience working closely with faculty and administration in an orientation, training, and advising setting and with demonstrated service skills and professionalism
  • Advanced knowledge of standard office software (Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint) and document editing software (Adobe Editor)
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills, including managing multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and a strong client-service orientation (faculty and staff)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to write in a variety of styles and formats, including reports, governance documents and procedure.
  • Ability to plan ahead and anticipate challenges
  • Ability to work well independently and under pressure

  • Experience using Curriculum Management and Curriculum Publisher, or comparable software
